Bikers in Istanbul

Drawing concern to the lessening number of bike routes in Istanbul, Turkey, and the city’s ever busy traffic situation, a touring cycling group's members organized a mass bike ride starting from Sultanahmet to Ortaköy on the night of 18th May.

Can Elmas, who is the Istanbul consultant for the show that is known as Velonotte, told that several cities were arranging the gathering as well as that target was to show local areas of cultural value. After Istanbul, the show will take place in London on 22nd June, where this will have a very special “Victorian” theme. In the England capital, the bikers will ride through Chelsea, the West End, Kensington and Westminster.

Beginning from the Buckingham Palace, the night will engage on everything that is conceptually early Victorian - from public museums to shopping, poetry, engineering and private cemeteries; from the London Underground to 1851 Exhibit as well as the Crystal Palace.

Velonette begun in Moscow in the year 2007 in order to find out and offer urban landscaping and design as well as decision-makers and inspire citizens about history. Around hundred bike riders have joined the very first Velonotte to go to areas behind the Kurski Station, which is a masterpiece of Konstantin Melnikov.
